Privacy Policy
Effective 06 May 2026
Bisht Bytes is a personal blog about software development. This page explains what data the site handles, who processes it, and what choices you have.
Short version
- No analytics or tracking runs until you click Accept on the cookie banner.
- If you accept, Microsoft Clarity loads to record anonymized heatmaps and session replays.
- If you submit your email through any waitlist on this site, that email is stored in Firebase Firestore.
- You can withdraw cookie consent any time via the “Manage cookies” link in the footer.
- You can request deletion of any waitlist email by writing to the address at the bottom of this page.
What we collect (only after consent)
When you click Accept on the cookie banner, the following data is collected:
- Microsoft Clarity: anonymized session recordings, mouse-movement heatmaps, click and scroll patterns, browser type, device class, and approximate location (country / region) inferred from IP. Clarity does not store the IP address itself.
- Cookies set by Clarity:
_clck,_clsk, and a small set of related identifiers used to stitch a session together. These expire within one year.
If you click Reject (or never interact with the banner), Clarity is not loaded and none of the above is collected.
The cookie consent cookie
Independent of analytics, the site stores your banner choice in a single localStorage entry called blog-cookie-consent-v1. It contains only your accept/reject answer and a timestamp. It expires after 13 months and is never sent to any server. This is a strictly necessary preference and does not require consent under EU rules.
Email signups (waitlist)
Some pages embed a card promoting Limited Session with a waitlist form. If you submit your email through that form:
- Your email address and a source tag (
bisht-bytes) are stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud, US). - The email is used solely to notify you about the Limited Session app launch.
- You can request deletion any time by emailing the address below.
You can choose not to submit. The site works the same either way.
Sub-processors
The site relies on these third parties:
- Microsoft Clarity— analytics. Loaded only after consent. See Microsoft’s privacy statement.
- Google Firebase Hosting— serves this site as static files. Standard server access logs (IP, user-agent) may be retained by Google.
- Google Firebase Firestore— stores waitlist emails. Only populated when you submit a form.
- Google Fonts— web fonts served from Google’s CDN. Loading a Google Font sends your IP and user-agent to Google as part of the request.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar rules, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent at any time.
- To withdraw analytics consent: click Manage cookies in the footer.
- To delete a waitlist email: write to the address below.
- To request a copy of any data we hold tied to your email: same address.
Children's privacy
The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through this site, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page and the effective date above will be updated.
